November 2009 update

  • Further meetings have been held with Sony Ericsson and Softhouse in order to make sure that the interests from all partners in the theme are taken into account.
  • Sebastian Barney has started a research study on quality aspects together with Sony Ericsson, based on previously conducted research in his Licentiate thesis.
  • Alma Orucevic-Alagic has further updated the article on transformation from proprietary to open source. Alma Orucevic-Alagic has also been working on the case study on Symbian, but she has also looked into other alternative cases such as Android since Symbian is not yet made open source. However, there is still an interest in conducting the study with Symbian.
  • Samireh Jalali has developed a first version of a framework for agile development, which is intended to be useful for classification of organizations of all sizes, levels of outsourcing, etc.
  • A study with the objective to learn more about decision support for deciding to develop components in-house, to buy them as of the shelf components, or to participate in an open source project has been initiated by Martin Höst.

Planned activities:

  • Individual follow-up meeting are intended to be held with all industrial partners.
  • Alma Orucevic-Alagic and Sebastian Barney will continue with individual meetings with Sony Ericsson about their research, and Samireh Jalali will continue with meetings with Softhouse about her research.
  • The researchers in the theme plan to report their results so far at the next large EASE meeting in February.
