The main part of the work within Theme D is devoted to the ongoing interview study on challenges and opportunities in RE+V&V-alignme

  • So far 12 interviews have been performed at SEMC, 7 of them transcribed and coded. Further interviews are planned.
  • One interview with ABB has been conducted.
  • We have also created a contact with BEKK Engineering in Oslo/Norway and with Sintef in Trondheim and will conduct further interviews with them during September 2009.

Planned activites

  • Efforts to extend the empirical work with more companies: contacted ABB in Västerås and Saab Security in Gothenburg, for further collaboration opportunities. Plans for meetings established during the fall of 2009.
  • Efforts to extend the empirical work with more companies: contacted BAE Systems Hägglunds in Örnsköldsvik, for further collaboration opportunities. Plans for meetings established during the fall of 2009.
  • Literature study of socio-technical research in software engineering, and its applicability to EASE-D.

MARS

  • The associated project MARS has extended the survey on quality requirements in practice published at REFSQ09. The extended version has been submitted to ICSE10 and a full analysis (including all data points for all questions) will be submitted to TSE in October 2009.

Planned activities in MARS:

  • Richard Berntsson-Svensson in MARS is on research exchange with University of New South Wales in Australia July-December 2009. The work focuses on QUPER and cross-disciplinary investigations with business, management and market research.
  • Development of practical guidelines for QUPER’s cost view. Two experiments to test the guidelines are planned for 2009.
  • Work on cost estimation of quality requirements in industry, including one in-depth case study in an agile environment and an online survey.
  • Work on the decision-making process, comparing decisions in an agile environment with decisions made in the traditional waterfall.

UPITER

  • The associated project UPITER has presented the study on metrics for scoping dynamics understanding in platform-based development at the International Conference on Requirements Engineering RE09 in Atlanta, USA
  • A study on architecting requirements in a large scale industrial context ispresented at REFSQ09 in Amsterdam, Netherlands.
  • A study about a new tool for visualization of cross-project scope evolution in large-scale requirements engineering for product lines accepted for publication and presented at REV09, Atlanta, USA.
  • A study about investigating upstream versus downstream decision-making in software product management accepted for publication at IWSPM09A study about investigating large-scale variability management for product configuration in the mobile handset domain presented at VaMoS2009 in Sevilla, Spain.

UPPREPA

  • The associated project UPPREPA has completed empirical evaluation on fix-cache-based regression test selection (submitted).

Planned activities in UPPREPA:

  • on-going survey on regression testing state of practice, first focus group meeting completed.
  • on-going literature review on software product line testing, planned to be completed by October.
