One Computer Science MSc thesis to be presented on 20 March
Thursday, 20 March there will be a master thesis presentation in Computer Science at Lund University, Faculty of Engineering.
The presentation will take place in E:2405 (Glasburen).
Note to potential opponents: Register as an opponent to the presentation of your choice by sending an email to the examiner for that presentation (firstname.lastname@cs.lth.se). Do not forget to specify the presentation you register for! Note that the number of opponents may be limited (often to two), so you might be forced to choose another presentation if you register too late. Registrations are individual, just as the oppositions are! More instructions are found on this page.
15:15-16:00 in E:2405 (Glasburen) N.B. No more opponents, already full

Title: Using data contracts to fulfill requirements on data in an intra-organizational data ecosystem
Examiner: Elizabeth Bjarnason
Supervisors: Per Runeson (LTH), Anton Frost (Axis Communications AB)
When organizations grow, data producers and data consumers tend to drift apart. This has been experienced firsthand by the department of Diagnostics & Data Management at Axis Communications, where this study was conducted.
Data contracts have emerged as a solution to bridge this gap. They are a collection of metadata for a dataset and exist as an interface between these actors. Due to data contracts' novelty they remain largely unexplored in scientific research.
In this Master's Thesis we explore the validity of the solutions provided by data contracts, and compare the scopes of data contracts and data catalogs. Also, we implement data contracts to fulfill predefined requirements at the case company.
We find that the solutions provided by data contracts address real problems in data ecosystems, and that structuring metadata in data contracts can be a valuable asset in bridging the growing gap between data producers and data consumers.
